Five 2020 Debuts I Can’t Wait to Read

It’s time for another Top 5 Saturday (led by the wonderful Mandy @ Devouring Books)! There are so many amazing books by debut authors this year that it was hard to choose!

Rules!

  • Share your top 5 books of the current topic– these can be books that you want to read, have read and loved, have read and hated, you can do it any way you want.
  • Tag the original post (This one!)

Tweet Cute by Emma Lord

This is the only book on this list that is already out, and I keep hearing so much about it! Whenever I read the synopsis for this book, I always get so hungry! It also just sounds like an adorable romance. I’m very excited to pick this one up!

Those Who Prey by Jennifer Moffett

Those Who Prey sounds so incredibly creepy. There’s just something fascinating about cults, and the premise of a young freshman in college in the 1990s who joins one with terrible consequences? Sign me up for this book, please!

Shielded by KayLynn Flanders

THIS COVER Y’ALL. I’ve heard this fantasy is suspenseful and exciting and twisty, and I really just need to read the ARC that’s on my Kindle because I’ve been putting it off KNOWING I’m going to love this book to pieces.

Star Daughter by Shveta Thakrar

When I found out Star Daughter is comped to Neil Gaiman’s Stardust, I was instantly intrigued. Plus that’s another cover to die for.

These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong

Retelling of Romeo and Juliet set in 1920s Shanghai? YES PLEASE. I mean, what else is there to say? I’m a sucker for historical fiction. I’m a sucker for Shakespeare retellings. I’M A SUCKER. It’s fine. I’m fine. Or I will be once I get my hands on this book.

What 2020 debuts are you looking forward to reading?

  1. Ohhh, I would definitely and highly recommend Tweet Cute, it is adorable and so much fun to read! Also great list, I found a new book (Those Who Prey) to add to my Goodreads shelf for 2020 releases I want to try out.

  2. Star Daughter almost made my list. I started reading it and it’s got very lush writing and I really love the Hindu mythology aspect! I also keep debating on if I should request a copy of These Violent Delights but I keep thinking about it so I think I should

      1. Haha I guess it’s time for me to do it! Last night I kept thinking about a blurb I read and I couldnt remember the title so I spent like 3 hours looking through upcoming releases before I found it. It was Splinters of Scarlet and I want a copy
